Orthotics in Moonee Ponds

Sometimes, if not most of the time, we tend to take our feet for granted until problems develop. Foot and lower limb conditions can affect your spinal health which can in turn have an effect on the rest of your body. We recommend that you ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you get pain in your feet?
  • Do you have fallen arches or flat feet?
  • Do you get back pain or spine pain?
  • Do you suffer from knee pain?
  • Do you suffer from hip pain?
  • Do you have bunions, shin splints, calluses or hammer toes?
  • Are you busy and spend a lot of the day on your feet?
  • Do you enjoy playing sport and want to perform to your best ability?

If your answer to any of these questions is a “Yes,” then take advantage of our FREE foot assessment and Scan on the Foot Levelers 3D digital foot scanner to see if you would benefit from orthotic therapy. Insoles that you buy off the shelf are not custom made. You would not wear someone else glasses, so why would you put something under your feet that has not been designed specifically for you.

Like glasses, our insoles are custom-made from a specific prescription. Therefore offering the best possible support and relief from the symptoms and conditions mentioned above is something you will benefit from. Orthotics help reduce pain throughout the feet, legs, knees, hips, and back. They can dramatically help improve and maintain a healthy posture for your spine and for the rest of your body.

Orthotics FAQs

When should I get orthotics?

If you have a diagnosed condition such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, or runner’s knee, then your healthcare practitioner may prescribe orthotics as part of your treatment plan. However, even if you don’t have a specific diagnosis, if you experience pain in your feet, ankles, or legs, then you should consult with a professional about whether orthotics may help you.

Can I put custom orthotics in any shoe?

Technically, you could put orthotics in any shoe, but it really depends on the type and fit of the shoe as to how comfortable or effective they are. Many people find that shoes with a higher heel counter (the part that comes up around your ankle) work better with orthotics, as they help keep the orthotics in place. You also want to make sure that the orthotics don’t make the shoe too tight; if they do, they can actually cause more problems.

Are custom orthotics better than over the counter?

Custom orthotics are made to fit your feet precisely, based on detailed measurements and analysis of your foot structure and gait. This ensures that they provide the optimal support for your individual needs. In contrast, over-the-counter orthotics are mass-produced and often do not provide a perfect fit. While they may still offer some benefits, they are unlikely to be as effective as custom orthotics.

How long do custom orthotics last?

The length of time your orthotics will last varies from person to person and depends on how often you wear them and the type of activity you do. Orthotics can last for anywhere up to 10 years if they are properly cared for. The top cover may start to wear out over time and will need to be replaced before the orthotics themselves need to be replaced.

What different types of orthotics are available?

There are a number of different styles of orthotics available, depending on your individual needs. This include full and half length orthotics, slim orthotics suitable for narrower, lower or open shoes and sports orthotics for use during exercise or physical activity.

Do orthotics help with back pain?

Orthotics can help alleviate back pain in some cases. If the pain is caused by poor posture or alignment, orthotics can help to correct these issues and provide support.

Will I have to wear orthotics forever?

The length of time you will need to wear your orthotics depends on each individual person’s situation. However, in general, if you are prescribed orthotics, it is recommended that you wear them as long as needed in order to achieve the desired effect. This could be forever, or it could be for a shorter period of time depending on your individual circumstances.
